BSE Delay Recording System

A swift, continuous and unimpeded operation is the fundamental basis of an efficient and economical EAF steel production. Therefore, it is essential to recognise and identify all interfering factors – as well as their cause.

The innovative BSE Delay Recording System is a powerful tool that helps you in your fight against power-off times! DRS is a step-by-step process analysis system that is operated by the melter at the furnace – a proven effective device with a guaranteed success factor especially for steel production plants that don’t have a Level 2 automation system yet or want to add such a functionality.

Principles

  • All possible delays and service times are stored together with their individual codes in a data base.
  • If specific process variables are exceeded or underrun, the EAF operator is informed immediately by way of a touchscreen interface message and prompted to respond – with the simple touch of a finger. The appropriate selection of a delay code is menu supported.

Concept

  • Operation with a touchscreen monitor mounted in a rack or self standing (optional).
  • Windows-based application with redundant hard drives providing maximum reliability against failures.
  • Double power pack and UPS-System for a continuous energy supply.
  • Only 3 digital inputs necessary (energy pulse, tapping, power-on).
  • Data memory for up to 30.000 heats.
  • The system will be supplied completely assembled ready for operation.
  • SQL database accessible from any external computer by appropriate SQL software.

Advantages

  • Reduction of delays provides a huge potential for productivity increase.
  • Precise documentations of main-, service- and delay times (and causes!) and energy consumption.
  • Allocation (and creation of awareness) of small but frequent delays, whose causes/solutions are often considerably simple.
  • Increase of consistency – standardised codes minimise subjective interpretations by operators and allow for objective comparisons of facilities or periods.
  • Increase of process transparency and accuracy, because every delay is recorded and has to be specified immediately.
  • Easiest possible handling facilitates the operator to focus on the process.
  • The package also includes a detailed training and introductory program for EAF operators and plant management.
